RECIPE OF CHINESE STYLE BAKED BUNS (SIEW BAO) WITH BBQ SWEET PORK (CHAR SIEW) 烧包



The best part about homemade is we can place any ingredients we like.

Ingredients:


Outer Dough

100gram flour

1 tbsp sugar

30 gram butter

50 ml water

Oil Dough

80 gram flour

50 gram shortening

Fillings

2 Gloves of Garlic

1 Sharlot

Some Mince meat (Didn't measure, RM 2.50 worth of mince meat)

2 tablespoon of Corn (As we don't take green pea)

1 tbsp of Char Siew Sauce

1 tbsp of Dark Soy Sauce

Egg wash

1 egg + pinch of salt

Method:

How to cook filling:
  1. Heat up wok, add 1 tablespoon of oil, fry garlic, and shallot until fragrance.
  2. Add mincemeat and corn, fry until mincemeat is cooked.
  3. Add Char Siew Sauce and Dark Soy sauce.
  4. Fry for another 1 minutes.
The Outer Crust:
  1. Add flour, butter, sugar, water in a big mixing bowl and form a dough (outer dough)
  2. Add flour, shortening to form a dough. (Oil dough)
  3. Now we are having 2 doughs. Rest both doughs for 15 minutes.
  4. Now divide the dough into 4 equal portions, then rest for another 15 minutes.
  5. Wrap oil dough in the outer dough. Rest for 10 minutes.
  6. Use a rolling pin to flatten it, then place filling in. Shape it.
  7. Egg wash with one egg + pinch of salt. Baked at the pre-heated oven for 185 C for 15 min. 
    Take out from the oven.
  8. Egg wash again sprinkles sesame seeds.
  9. Baked for another 15 min.
